Who are we?
S.M.

consultancy providing a bespoke service catering to the needs of
companies, associations, public concerns, charities in the small and
medium size business sector. We focus in telling our clients what they
can do safely, handling all aspects of HR and employment law including
tribunal representation. We are businesspeople not lawyers; we have run
our own businesses so we fully understand the conflicting pressures
facing small companies and their owners.
What do we do?
S.M.
Services specialize in providing SME companies with employment
documents which comply with the latest legislation. We concentrate in
preparing contracts of employment, compromise agreements, developing
hand books and handling discipline, absence, capability, discrimination

have successfully carried out restructuring exercises for our clients.
We have implemented for them and their people, changes to terms and
conditions and where needed controlled redundancy programmes. We have

Why should you speak to us?
Industrial
tribunal proceedings being taken against organisations are becoming
more common. There were over 150,000 in 2008/9 (latest available
statistics) with an average unfair dismissal award of over £8,600.
Tribunal
awards can now be in excess of £70,000. Awards in discrimination or
whistleblowing cases are unlimited. Your employees tend to know more
about your legal rights than you do.
Redundancy
and dismissal are governed by a legal process. If you dont follow the
correct procedure it can be costly and time consuming. A mistake in
administering a procedure or process can be expensive in both money and
time.
Discrimination claims are becoming more common they can be avoided by having suitable policies.
